OLD UPDATES

12/9/2005

Wow. If I might get personal for a minute, I must mention that things are going awfully well for me. I was able to finish up everything that I had to do for the quarter, I think I did decently on finals, and ALL of my employers seem at the best very pleased with me and at the worst very understanding. Hopefully all these benefits will trickle down to you, the reader, in the form of more regular updates and maybe even some new features! Won't that be nice? Have a great winter break everyone! :^) -Lars

PS: Aren't you guys excited for Narnia tonight??

12/3/2005

Good luck on finals everybody! -Lars

11/21/2005

IF YOU SEE ONE HARRY POTTER MOVIE IN YOUR WHOLE LIFE, SEE GOBLET OF FIRE. Of course, that's coming from someone who's never read the books and doesn't intend to, so who cares what I think? Really though, I enjoyed it the most out of the four, mostly due to it's quirky humor. But again, some friends of mine have thought it was the worst of the four, so you'll have to make up your own mind.

Anyway I'm out of here, have a Happy Thanksgiving, and try not to think about those dead Indians I've been forced to read about for two months. Later! -Lars

11/16/2005

Okay, it's pretty obvious at this point that something's up. Here's the deal. Everybody (who pays really close attention to this blogginator and has a really good memory) knows that I work at a certain panda-themed chinese restaurant. What you might not know is that I ALSO do work for the psychology department at my college, creating drawings to be used as prompts in language experiments.

Currently, I am working on my biggest work order ever, for which I will be paid the most money ever. This is what has been eating up the majority of my free time, and why the part of my brain that draws has been too exhausted to make comics for you guys in a timely manner.

The bad news is that I'm just over halfway done. The good news is that the deadline for these is just over a week away, and that I'm learning to budget my time better. So after that things should be back to normal around here. That will be especially nice because I want to start updating on Wednesdays. That's right, three comics a week... perfect for another delve into continuity. We might find out what happened with that girl that Billy liked, or maybe I could further mock this latest travesty.
Ah, but I say too much.

The movie recommendation for this week is Zathura, I saw it and it was freakin' sweet. To me the best thing about this movie is also the worst: the characterization is very realistic. The kids are bratty like a six and ten year old, about as smart as a six and ten year old, and swear about as much as a six and ten year old would realistically swear. (Which is more than you would expect in a PG movie.) The downside to this, as Ari and Jo pointed out, is that little kids can sometimes be annoying when they're bratty and dumb. But hopefully if you go in expecting a realistic performance then it should be easy to enjoy the ride, and an awesome ride it is. Anyway, I'd better stop talking before this turns into a Russian novel. -Lars

11/7/2005

Yeah, sorry about missing a day. But hey, I was doing pretty good there for a while right? I'll make it up to you guys somehow, really. As soon as I have some time where it's easier to keep my eyes open. I do hope you like today's comic though! And here are some movie recommendations for ya:

Wallace & Gromit: When have these guys ever not been awesome?
Elizabethtown: A romantic comedy, but it has a brain and is mostly about life.
Shopgirl: Steve Martin produces, stars and wrote this pseudo-comedy.

If you wanna see them see them soon cuz they're going fast! -Lars

10/31/2005

Okay, still haven't had time to work on the site, but we're nearing a break through!
I can feel it! -Lars

10/28/2005

I finally DID see Wallace & Gromit, and it actually was quite enjoyable. Good stuff. Not his some of this OTHER stuff... pshaw. -Lars

10/21/2005

Well, I'm still really busy. But there's a reason that site development has been slow, new fan art hasn't gone up, and the blogginators have been rather sparse. I've been doing a lot of drawings for the psychology department at my school, working a lot, and next week I have three midterms. However, I've gotten a lot of those drawings done, so after next week things SHOULD start clicking around here again, despite the new hours they've given me at work. (Wow... I just realized I have two jobs... CRAZY!) But yeah, keep comin' back and I hope you like the comics! Anyway, I've got to go to work. See you later! -Lars

10/14/2005

Nothing to report except that I'm a little behind in everything... Just you guys wait a couple weeks though, I got big plans or something! Maybe! -Lars

10/10/2005

Whew, back to the randomness for a while, but we may do another story at some point and maybe I'll have to start updating more often and I'll also have to finish the work on the site I've been doing so I can show it to you guys but now I gotta go to class!!! -Lars

10/7/2005

Okay I'm sick of this story so I'm just gonna rush through it. Hence, there will be updates on Saturday and Sunday to get through the last two comics, and then on Monday we will be back to the randomness with something completely unrelated! Yay! :^D -Lars

10/3/2005

No blog today cuz I gotta go to class and then I gotta go to work! But I will tell you that the new Blockheads Character's Page is halfway done! OOOOOO! :^D -Lars

9/30/2005

Oh man, it seems like I was gonna talk about something in here today, but I was so busy this week and so tired right now that I forgot what it was. Oh well. How are you guys liking the continuity I been doing? This little thing is more than half over at this point, but I'd be interested to hear what you think about this slight departure from normalcy. -Lars

PS: See if you can spot the dangling participle in today's blogginator!

9/26/2005

So I saw Corpse Bride, it was pretty good. Probably the best stop-motion animation I've ever seen from the standpoint of craftsmanship, it was worth seeing it just for that. I actually think Wallace and Gromit will be better though, at least, I think I'll laugh more. Not that Corpse wasn't funny, it's just that the first half, while still very beautiful to look at, wasn't all that funny. And you couldn't understand the lyrics in the first song. But the second half was super funny, so I mean it was still good.

Anyway I also got my Panda job back, so I'm doing that again, this time on the UCSD campus. Come stalk me, I dare you. -Lars

9/23/2005

Corpse Bride comes out today! EEEEEEEEEEEEE! :^D -Lars

9/21/2005

Did you guys notice how there's over 10,000 hits on the counter now? I think that's pretty kickass. Thanks everybody! This is all for you! :^D -Lars

9/16/2005

Wow... I am tired. But more importantly, I'm going to San Diego this weekend! It's back to school for me! See y'all later! Don't have much else to say really. Y'all better be stoked for Corpse Bride and Curse of the Were-Rabbit though, right? Hooray for stop-motion animation! WOOOOOO! -Lars

9/12/2005

HEY EVERYBODY! It's great to be back! New Zealand was nice, I'll tell you guys about it sometime. But not right now.

What I will tell you is to see Crash. (R) It is about race-relations in Los Angeles, and I honestly think it should take Best Picture or something. I mean it won't, but it should, it was REALLY intense and awesome and the acting was really good. See it.

What isn't so good is Naruto on Cartoon Network. They basically simplified all the dialogue and took out all the blood so that it would only appeal to kids, when it really should appeal to all ages. It's crappy now. I mean you know how when they intentionally make the people talk in slow, unnatural ways so that a four year old could follow the plot? Or when the acting is intentionally bad so that the situations won't be as intense? Kind of like the new Star Wars movies? Like that. Also Naruto's voice sucks. They even replaced the real awesome theme song with a new crappy one. If only there was some way to see subtitled episodes in the original Japanese... *coughFANSUBScough*... Or, y'know the uncut DVDs will probably have that too.
I dunno, I'll probably buy em. -Lars

8/24/2005

So I saw The 40 Year Old Virgin and it was in the same league as Wedding Crashers, in that it was funny as hell, go see it. NOW mister! -Lars

PS: Yes, I am really going to New Zealand, and since I'm not taking my laptop there will be no updates while I'm there. But I'll still be checking the guestbook and my email when I can, so drop me a line won't you? See ya!

8/12/2005

Does anybody know what good movies are out right now? -Lars

8/12/2005

Okay so I saw Dukes of Hazzard. I would say the weak point was that a lot of the jokes fell flat... but some of that could be just that nothing is as funny since seeing Wedding Crashers. I dunno, I mean it's entertaining, but just nothing groundbreaking... see it if you have nothing better to do. Umm... I guess that's it. -Lars

8/8/2005

Because I am busy with my buddies, there will be no new blogginator today.

Except this one. -Lars

8/5/2005

Have you ever played broomball? BROOMBALL? I played it last night for the second time. Greatest thing ever. We have been lied to all this time... there is only one true sport, and it's name is broomball.

Next birthday, gather 50 of your closest friends and rent out your local hockey rink for some late night party broomball. (Official broomball has only 12 players, but the game is much more fun with 50 or 60.) They should have everything you need to play. (Sans a few brooms, but a few of you can switch off. A broomless player can still kick the ball like soccer.)

WARNING: Proper party broomball is played WITHOUT skates. You WILL eat ice.

But afterwards, you will weep with joy, and at the same time, weep with the bitter knowledge that so much of your life has been wasted not playing this game. But now you have been armed with knowledge! SO SALLY FORTH MY BROTHERS! SEIZE THE DAY!!! -Lars

PS: I am so very very tired... X^O...

8/2/2005

I never know what to write down here anymore. But I'll tell you one thing... I'm starting to get tired of the format of this strip... it just seems limiting lately. I mean, has anyone noticed me trying to push the artwork in those four little panels? I'm not saying I would ever stop doing it, but I might need to start working on that new Stick-Man story real soon... stretch my art-legs a little more or sumptin'.

And the format of the whole site could stand to be redone too. I think i'm gonna dedicate some time and maybe redesign everything... make it all more pretty and functional and add some new stuff. Gotta get started on that now that I've gotten caught up on the rest of the stuff in my life.

Oh, and buzzcomix is back, so we have two vote buttons now. Much better than switching them out every time buzzcomix goes down. Enjoy voting! :^D -Lars

7/29/2005

Whew! And there we go, five comics in one week. I'm quite tired. -Lars

7/27/2005

Sorry today's comic was late, I got sick yesterday and ended up sleeping for nearly 14 hours, and then there was work this morning... But at least I got my comic up before Scott Kurtz right? Haha, take that dude. (Not that I know him, or that he reads this.)

Anyway, I also saw Wedding Crashers [R] the other night, and I gotta say it was freakin' awesome. That movie had everything, it's a must see. (But not for kids.)
I really did laugh the whole time though, check that out. -Lars

7/25/2005

Okay, I'm going to TRY to update every weekday this week. That's five new comics. Last time I tried that it didn't work cuz of internet issues, but I think I've got a handle on those now. Here's hoping! :^) -Lars

7/22/2005

Hooray for sleep deprivation! -Me

7/20/2005

Well, Comic-Con was great. In addition to seeing certain import models, I also spoke briefly to Gabe & Tycho, Scott Kurtz, and Stephen Notley. None of them have any clue who I am, but it's nice to rub elbows with the guys who inspired me to start this site.

Plus I got a Flight Two book, and got it signed by Doug TenNapel and Michel Gagne. Oh, and me and Brent met Bruce Campbell. Good times. (Spike and Mike's was a bit thin this year, but Roybertito's killed.)

I also saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory over the weekend. I laughed the whole time and afterwards I felt like I had been eating candy all day. I'm suggestible like that. Seriously though, check that thing out, you'll love it unless you remember who Gene Wilder is. -Lars

7/15/2005

REPEATED ANNOUNCEMENT: Because Brent is writing the next Stick-Man story, all Be-in-a-Comic business is now going to be handled directly by him. Hence, links will be changed, and the emails you have sent me will be forwarded to him. Those of you who have written should be hearing from him in the next week or so. Probably.

Anyway, I guess I really don't have much else to say. See you at Comic-Con tomorrow! If you see me, maybe I can sell you a shirt! (I'm thinking of trying to hock them out of my backpack, hope that's kosher.) -Lars

7/13/2005

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Because Brent is writing the next Stick-Man story, all Be-in-a-Comic business is now going to be handled directly by him. Hence, links will be changed, and the emails you have sent me will be forwarded to him. Those of you who have written should be hearing from him in the next week or so. Probably.

I saw a couple more of those movies, specifically War of the Worlds and Fantastic Four. I enjoyed Fantastic Four while I was watching it, but the more I think about it after the fact, the more I think it was really corny. But if I had fun then that's what matters right?

As for War of the Worlds, it scared the hell out of me. I learned something new about myself: I am terrified of death rays. I HATE death rays. I am using the word "hate" about death rays here, okay? But yeah, excellent movie, I recommend it to everybody. While you're watching that I'm going to look into that Destroy All Humans game as a possible cure for my unusual phobia. I heard the Invader Zim guy does a voice in that.

And are you kids excited for Corpse Bride yet? I know I am! :^)

Finally, Comic-Con International is this weekend in San Diego. Hope to see you guys there on Saturday! Hopefully I'll remember to wear my LarsComics shirt. -Lars

6/26/2005

This comic is up a day early cuz I'm gonna be in Yosemite with the family for a few days. While there, me and Brent will work on storyboarding the new Stick-Man Story he's been writing. Of course a new Stick-Man story means new guest appearances from real world type people, namely you! So check out the Be in a Stick-Man Comic page and send us an email won't you? We'll see you guys in a few days! -Lars & Brent is right here too.

6/24/2005

There is a new Stick-Man story coming, this one being written by my bro, Brent. I'm sure I could mention other stuff but I'm too tired right now.

6/18/2005

Sorry about the lack of updates recently folks, the past week has been a busy time for me, what with moving home from college for the summer and all. But don't worry, updates should now resume unimpeded, I got ideas for several more comics and I had the presence of mind to write them down.

Anywho, it's SUMMER! Congradulations to those of you who are graduating, and a "Party Hearty" to all! And aside from general jubilation and beach going, summer brings us lots of MOVIES! And some of them actually look good this year... let's take a look.

I gotta start by talking about Batman Begins, starring Christian Bale. I saw it a couple days ago and it was excellent. Freakin' awesome, a contender for film of the year. Not your average Batman movie, that's all I have to say. Go see it. I'll wait for you. Go.

Back? Okay then, moving on. The only other movies out right now are pretty much kid movies. I just saw Howl's Moving Castle, (also starring Christian Bale as Howl,) which was a lot of fun if you don't mind anime, and if you can find it in your area. Madagascar has been out for a while... y'know, I was excited that it was coming out, but now that it's here I have no desire to go see it... oh well. And the only other interesting movie that is out right now is Shark Boy and Lava Girl in 3-D. Yes, 3-D. Regardless of content, the 3-Dness sounds like a hoot. I figure I'll go with a few friends, and if it sucks we can make fun of it the whole time.

Oh, Mr. & Mrs. Smith is out already too? That one went right by me. Go check it out if you wanna see attractive people shoot their way through a predictable plot.

Now, if you don't need to see a movie right now, and you're willing to wait a week, Bewitched is coming out. It looks kinda cheesy, but the chicks seem to think it's interesting, so I dunno... maybe go with a group?

War of the Worlds opens June 29th. GO ALIENS!

Fantastic Four opens July 8th. I wonder how that one will be...

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory comes out July 15th. Now THIS one looks like fun... The movie that scared me when I was six, recreated in a scarier way, and released in a year when I'm old enough to appreciate the candy-themed torture of children.
Tim Burton and Johnny Depp, keep 'em coming dudes. Edward Scissorhands ruled. (These guys are also making The Corpse Bride, opening September 23rd!!!)

Anyway, Sky High comes out July 29th. I dunno, the trailer amused me.

Dukes of Hazzard comes out August 8th! The preview cracked me up, so I'm gonna check it out, it looks fun as hell.

And if you like scary movies, The Skeleton Key looked pretty scary to me... that one's August 12th. I'll go see it if somebody holds my hand.

Anyway, I'm gonna stop there... I could go on, but that Chronicles of Narnia movie doesn't come out until winter, so yeah, stopping. Did I leave out any good flicks? Let me know. Anyway, back to the madness for me! WOOOOO! Summer! -Lars

6/8/2005

Wow... I must give huge thanks to everyone who wished me a Happy Birthday today!
I really wasn't expecting anything since this is finals week at my college, but the phone calls, voicemails, emails, facebook messages, text messages, AIM chats, myspace comments, and even a friendster testimonial, just kept coming. (You crazy Alek! Good lord, even an Open Diary note? I didn't even know you knew I still had one!) It was great that I was able to talk to so many people even though schedules and distances were inconvenient for pretty much everyone. Thanks you guys, you all mean the world to me. I would actually count this birthday as one of the best I've had in a long time, so thank you. I feel loved. :^)

As for today's comic, I'm not actually having any trouble with my computer, it's just that I have weird thoughts sometimes. Hehe. :^D -Lars

6/7/2005

I'm 22 years old! :^D -Lars

6/6/2005

Y'know, I've been thinking... what if the characterization in Star Wars was bad on purpose? I'm not some die hard fan trying to justify what I saw here, just hear me out. There was some pretty hardcore violence in places despite the fact that it was a "kids movie." So maybe, maybe making the audience not care about the characters was done in order to lessen the impact of those gruesome scenes.

Some kid would be watching, and rather than being disturbed by all that violence, he just says, "Oh, well that isn't real, real people don't talk like that..." I think that if the drama was played correctly, and you actually felt the pain of the characters, the movie would've actually been REALLY intense, y'know what I mean?

The other theory is that they used the first draft of the script and did every scene in one take, basing their actions on the idea that acting and story didn't matter. Rather, the movie was created for the geekier fans of the movies, who just wanted more droids and spaceships to memorize and crash into each other.

In any case, the effects were amazing. And I can't help but wonder... what if someone created a movie in a world as visually fantastic as this, but with incredible depth of character and story as well? I think that would be a hell of a show, the possibilities with all those aliens and droids and stuff are endless, and it "breaks my heart" to see all those awesome things wasted by making the story take a backseat to the effects. I'd like to see a Star Wars story that had nothing to do with Jedi or galactic politics or whatever. Send R2 on an adventure of his own! :^) I dunno, that's just my opinion. I've always thought that the priority in any story should be, well, the story. Set up, conflict, climax, y'know? But I guess not everybody feels that way. Oh well, not my movie. I'm done.

6/4/2005

I'm trying to give these comics titles that are more clever, like in Polymer City Chronicles. That guy puts some brilliant puns in his comic titles and the comics themselves, I'm always amazed.

Anywho yeah, Star Trek was a great show. (I only mean The Next Generation.) Too bad they don't make any of that stuff anymore, but I guess the era of the character-driven space-epic is over. That's right, I saw Star Wars 3 today.

I'm not gonna give any spoilers, but let's just say that I really enjoyed the first 20 minutes of the movie, and as for the last 2 hours, I could take it or leave it. It was just okay, y'know? Normally I would be really annoyed by a movie that didn't make me care about any of the characters, but that's just what I've come to expect from Star Wars movies today. At least we got some good R2-D2 action in there, I swear, that little blue droid is CARRYING those movies, all of them. And yet, with all the horrible dialogue, they even managed to give R2 beeps and whistles that sounded a bit forced. I don't blame R2 though, at least his delivery was believable.

I just wish they had sent the script to me three years ago so I could've rewritten the dialogue, cuz the script had "first draft" written all over it. Oh well, woulda shoulda coulda. Peace. -Lars

6/1/2005

Sorry I'm late again folks, but at least there will still be two comics up this week as per usual. (I hope.) It amazes me how I seem to sit on these comic ideas for longer and longer before I use them. It's probably cuz I have so many. A three per week schedule could be in the near future.

Anyway, in honor of today's nerd-themed comic, I believe a geek out is in order!

WARNING: GEEK OUT IN PROGRESS...

So on Memorial Day I'm watching Cartoon Network's big summer teaser show, where they're showcasing a bunch of the new stuff they're cooking up. One show struck me in particular, The Life and Times of Juniper Lee, in that it seems extremely similar to the Disney Channel show called American Dragon: Jake Long. I'm not a particular fan of either show, but let's review the facts.

American Dragon is about a hapa preteen guy with a younger sister. He is taking over the job of his grandpa, which is to regulate matters between our world and the world of magic. He is advised by an old talking dog.

Juniper Lee is about a hapa looking preteen girl with a younger brother. She is taking over the job of her grandma, which is to regulate matters between our world and the world of magic. She is advised by an old talking dog.

WHAT THE HELL?! WHY?!?!?! Is the entire animation industry based on espionage?!
I haven't seen anything this bad since A Bug's Life and Antz came out at the same time! In fact this is WORSE! I mean sure, Jake turns into a dragon while Juniper does not, but COME ON! The talking dogs are the SAME BREED for crying out loud!

You KNOW that these two shows are too similar to have ever come out of the same studio. Perhaps great minds think alike, but not THIS much alike. Somebody stole an idea. For shame. I think Disney's the culprit but that's just me. Does anyone wanna place bets? Not that we'll ever know, I doubt either of these companies wants a lawsuit. But still... wow.

Anyway the only other interesting thing is that Naruto hits Cartoon Network this summer. It's Japan's most popular show today, and it's NOT because it urges kids to "catch em all," it's because it is a GOOD show with a GOOD story and AWESOME characters and drama. So if you're not internet savvy enough to download the 130-ish episode torrents online, or you just can't watch anything with subtitles, be sure to tune in, and maybe the voice-overs won't suck too bad. But I must warn you... I've never met anyone who didn't like this show. ANYONE. Just a warning. Peace.

END GEEK OUT.

Good night everybody! Be good to each other! :^) -Lars

5/27/2005

The comics and their randomness... Anyway, I get out of school and come back to Manhattan Beach in a week or so. So that's excellent, look for me there. I still haven't seen Star Wars 3, but I'm sure I'll get around to it. (It does not garner a link, I mean it really doesn't need the help y'know? :^) ) Also, my birthday is coming up! I'm so freakin' old! :^O -Lars

5/23/2005

Not a lot to say. I can't wait for school to be over. Be excellent to each other, kids. -Lars

5/20/2005

And so concludes our Ugly Buttkins special. I hope everybody had a good time, and feels a little warmth in this resolution. Does this mean this is the end of Ugly Buttkins' adventures? Hell no. I got some more ideas I'm kickin' around, so don't you worry. But in the meantime, we will now return you to your regularly scheduled poop jokes. ;^) -Lars

5/18/2005

And so continues our Ugly Buttkins special that began Monday, be sure to turn in Friday for the exciting conclusion! (For those of you who saw this comic coming, big whoop, I did too.) Also, NEW FAN ART! :^) -Lars

5/16/2005

Hey there kids! I bet you were wondering when it was time to bring back good ol' Ugly Buttkins! Well wait no longer, because this week is a there will be three comics dedicated to the poor little guy! What will finally become of our unfortunately named friend? Stay tuned! -Lars

PS: SUNGOD REPORT TO FOLLOW... If you remember Sungod, you weren't there. ...END REPORT.

5/13/2005

HAPPY SUNGOD! That's right, it's the day of the Sungod Festival! As many of you know, I attend UCSD, and today is the day of the year when all the students get drunk, wander around campus, and try not to get arrested! Also I think Ludacris is playing or something.

Anyway yeah, I already got my 32's! Have fun everybody! And a big thank you to the designated drivers out there! :^D -Lars

5/10/2005

I'm really sorry for the sparse updates for the past couple of weeks everybody, these trips home are killing me. But those should be the last ones for a while, so good stuff. I need to figure out a way to make it up to you guys... Shout out to the Mira Costa Drama Department by the way, you guys friggin' rock. :^)

So I finally saw Hitchhiker's Guide. Honestly, I think I would give it a B- at best. It's just not the way I would've done things... They tried to do too much, and didn't explain a lot of things enough as a result... I felt the Vogon poetry scene was especially botched. And don't tell me that they HAD to mash it all in cuz it came from a book, a lot of the stuff wasn't in the book, and that led to a lot of other creative decisions that I didn't agree with either. But oh well... visually it was awesome at least.

Anyway, I also saw Amityville Horror. Scared the hell out of me, fun stuff. :^) I guess that's about it, and I'll try to get a jump on those comics so there won't be anymore late updates. Bye! -Lars

5/2/2005

Did you guys catch the new Family Guy and American Dad episodes? I missed American Dad, but it's all being rerun on Cartoon Network in the next couple of weeks anyway, so no big deal. Shoot, I still need to see The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy too... Apparently it's doing well at the box office.

But I'm just so busy lately y'know? I went home for the first time this quarter this past weekend, busy busy busy... -Lars

4/27/2005

I got a job at everyone's favorite Panda themed chinese restaurant! I really like it, cleaning out steam tables, cleaning toilets, and sweeping and mopping the entire store is quite a workout! But my favorite part is the customer service. From the thrill of someone choosing an entrée because they liked the sample you gave them, to the shame of losing a sale because you didn't order more of that food from the kitchen in time, the drama of the counter is truly intense. But oh is it satisfying work, standing around all day serving up love... I could go on. :^)

Anyway, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy comes out on Friday, I read the book when I was younger so I wanna check that out. Also the new Family Guy is this Sunday evening. I already watched it on the computer... not the impact of original Family Guy since we already know the show, but still very funny, and definitely Family Guy. Check it out. -Lars

4/22/2005

WHEW! I been busy folks. You may notice that I've added some new navigation buttons and a nice little Blockhead Comics title logo. These are just the first in a long list of changes I'm making to the site, to make a tighter, cleaner, and more professional LarsComics. Keep an eye out for more changes in the future! (And much thanks to the people I talked to about the rollover images, your input is much appreciated!)

Anyway, what else? Haven y'all seen Bonus Stage? That crap's hilarious, check it out. :^) -Lars

Untitled Document

4/18/2005

Okay, let's see... there was definitely something I wanted to talk about... Oh yes. This weekend I saw Kung Fu Hustle. It's awesome hilarious, go see it, it opens more widely this Friday. Um... yeah... that's all for now, I been way tired this weekend. Later. -Lars

If you liked today's comic and would like to learn more about eating animals, here is an article for you to read.

Speaking of reading material, the recent death of the pope reminds me that I should pimp Angels and Demons. (The book begins when the pope dies and they have to pick a new one.) The prequel to the Da Vinci Code, but an unrelated story, I think it's actually an even better book. More people die. :^) So read it.

Anyway, on a completely unrelated topic, I had pizza today for the first time in two weeks, which was really good. If I don't eat pizza for too long I start to feel anemic, because as everyone knows, pizza is the only food with enough energy to fuel my mighty super powers. Yes, I have super powers. All of them. Stop asking. -Lars

PS: OMG, did I forget to mention the beautiful new Gallery section?! I spent hours setting that thing up, go check it out! (Even if it is just a redesign of the old Junk section.)

Holy cow, did you guys see the Kim Possible movie on tv this weekend?! That was awesome! I wonder if they'll ever play it again. If they don't, you can always buy it on DVD... I'm still saving my money for The Brak Show Season One and The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie. Do you think I'm a nerd? Of course you don't. :^) -Lars

Well I'm finally back on track this week; got the comic up the day it should. It's based on a true story, which is already obvious. Did you know that I've had the same song stuck in my head for two days now? "A New Hope" by Blink 182. Friggin' annoying. School stuff is lightening up a little, so I've started breaking out old projects! We might see another episode of The Pirate and the Canadian in the nearby future. Anyway, that's all, happy Spring Break if you haven't had it already! :^) -Lars

I seem to keep putting the comic up a day late. I gotta work on that. Anyway, guess what? Blockhead Comics was one of this week's comic picks at Digital Strips this week! They do a weekly webradio show about webcomics, and they were talking about us! (Listen here!) Sure there was a little criticism, and Blockheads weren't mentioned until the 20-minute mark, but they laughed, THEY LAUGHED, and that fills me with happy! Digital Strips will now be permanently linked from the Links page.

Outside of that... I saw Sin City this weekend, it was awesome! See it if you aren't bothered by violence, gore, or heinous acts. It's rated R for a reason folks, but if you liked Kill Bill, then you might like Sin City even better. Or not, I really can't say for sure. Later! -Lars

In honor of April Fools Day, I put up the comic a day late. Yeah...

Anyway I'm back at school this week. Busy busy busy. Can you say $200 in art supplies? Plus I broke my cell phone... blah. Anyway I've changed the colors on the Blogginator 5000 graphic yet again, it'll probably stick this time. Also I think we're at TopWebComics permanently now, or until further notice. I saw the Ring Two, it was okay but not as good as the original. I liked the cameo from Gary Cole, it reminded me of Office Space a little.

Anyway, I'm still working to keep up with school and fix up the website and such. Keep comin' down and I'll see you guys on the guestbook/forum dealy. :^) -Lars

Well, spring break is over and I'm back in San Diego. A bunch of stuff happened this break, I got my first cavity, hung out with my homies and met some cool peeps. Also I got a new cell phone, but don't worry, it's the same number. There was a toga party at some point, and apparently I'm money and don't know it. Overall a good time.

I saw Steamboy, it was epic in an unretarded way. See it if you can, the average reviews you'll see are based on a different edition of the movie. Also, BuzzComix died again, so we have again switched back to TopWebComics. That's strike two, we may switch permanently if this keeps up. But please feel free to vote, as it still makes me feel just as special. :^) Happy Easter/Spring! -Lars

Hello! WOO, SPRING BREAK! Although right now it's not that super, cuz I'm kinda bored. But Zack and Ari helped me with that today, so that's pretty cool. I saw Steamboy with Ari, it kicked ass. Go see it. But yeah, I'm just kinda kickin' it in Manhattan Beach for spring break, so be sure to give me a call or whatever. Oh, and did you guys hear that there's a new Tim Burton movie coming out? I'm pretty sure it is stop-motion animation, and quite morbid. That should be friggin' sweet. I guess that's all to say except Happy Birthday Brent! (That's my bro.) -Lars

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY! Are you wearing green? I am! Yeah, I won't say I'm drunk, but let's just say that I'm feeling very Irish right now... Of course by the time you guys read this it probably won't be St. Patrick's Day anymore. But it will still be time to get drunk, because by then I will be on Spring Break! WHEE! Hopefully updates will be uninterrupted for the next week, but there might be issues with next Friday... We'll see what happens! Party hardy people! (Party Hearty?) WOO! Oh, by the way, did you notice that I totally updated the Store? Cuz I did, it's all pretty now. -Lars

So I saw Robots the other day. It was pretty fun, not the greatest movie ever or the most original story, but definitely a fun and funny feel-good movie with some pretty impressive animation too. I had fun.
I really should put some more work in on this site... I've been meaning to put up a New-Reader's page and fix up the junk section, make it a Gallery section instead with space for Fan-Art and such. But right now it's after 4am so time for sleep... -Lars

Omg, Robots comes out today! I'm so stoked to see it! It's gonna have all my favorite things! Computer animation, stupid jokes, crazy animated action, and oh yeah- ROBOTS! Of course, our local robotic resident has his feelings on the matter, as shown above.
As far as real life goes, I had my last class of the quarter today! That means more time to spend drawing! As soon as I stop been way too tired and feeling sick that is... -Lars

Whew! That Staring Contest week sure was fun! Did you get any good staring contests in? I hope so!
Sorry for the update a day late everyone, but it's the last week before finals and it's really hard not to slack off in just about everything, especially with all the parties there were this weekend! Um... I mean... I have a lot of work to do! I should be able to get comics up on time for the rest of the quarter, but please don't be surprised if there are any more hiccups in the next couple of weeks. Back to writing that paper... Study hard everyone! -Lars

Whew... sorry folks, I guess I'm two days late with the update. Terrible, just terrible. Rain and sickness and thunder and lightning, I'm exhausted. And look at this Blogginator... it doesn't even have any title art. I need to get right on this. Next week there will be new blockheads on MONDAY, WEDNESDAY AND FRIDAY! Hopefully that'll perk things up! (And of course there will still be a comic this Friday too, although I still have to draw it.) :^) -Lars

Howdy y'all! You may have noticed that I've been taking the site a little more seriously lately! We got a new guestbook and a new hit counter from bravenet.com. (Traffic has impressed me, it's three times what it was last time we had a counter!) And with two blockheads a week, hopefully you'll be comin' down twice as often!

Also I'll hopefully start using this amazing new blogginator, brought to us by the most advanced blockhead scientists! What's next for LarsComics.com? New pages of Stick-Man adventure? Finally another episode of the Pirate and the Canadian? New title art? Perhaps an update to the hopelessly outdated About the Author page? Keep comin' down and we'll find out! :^D -Lars
